Find the best Western food in Kathmandu
So you are in Kathmandu after a long walk and is tired of rice and lentils, sick of noodles or just maybe a little home sick. Some want simple steamed vegetables or a fresh salad, but have no idea where to start looking, and I'm here to shed some light on the hidden treasures of Kathmandu culinary delights.
PIZZA
A question that many people in this world who travel and do not crave pizza from time to time. At one point you could not get a decent pizza in Nepal, there are currently a lot of restaurants that make wood very good prize fired pizza, in fact, I dare say the best we can get into the country! But like all good things in life, there is a price. Pizza Rs 300-550 range depending on the ingredients! The best place to get pizza is fire and ice that somehow an institution in Thamel. A great place to relive the best moments of your trip with friends, while enjoy a delicious pizza and beverage of choice.
PASTA
A generous plate of handmade pasta always satisfy any appetite. In those cold days winter, head to La Dolce Vita. Three floors of dining rooms and an outdoor terrace on the roof style invited to dinner at a pasta party. The portions are generous and delicious. My personal favorite is the hand of the Rossa Gnocchi (Gnocchi in a red wine and tomato sauce). Here salads and pizzas are also very good. Finish your meal off with an imported Italian coffee Lavatzza style.
STEAK
For the carnivores out there, we all crave that big juicy piece of red meat. For those familiar with Indian culture, it is against the custom of eating meat, meat products for most reds in Nepal is actually buffalo meat, a little chewy texture and a beef steak a good lean. Everest Steak House, located both in Thamel and Pokhara Lake Side, serves the best steaks this side of New Orleans. You can order real imported beef tenderloin, rib eye, sirloin steak or eye, cooked to your liking and served with a side of french fries and steamed vegetables. A meal in the Everest Steak House will cost about 600NPR including beverages and taxes.
JAPANESE
Get your taste buds singing with some amazing sushi in a small restaurant called Momo Taru. Located at the upper end of Thamel, this gem of a restaurant is managed by professional staff in Nepal, in collaboration with a partner elderly Japanese. Many of the ingredients are flown in from Japan, including shellfish. The food is amazing and a great-tasting food healthy here will not break the bank either. About 400NPR seen with a plate of Sushi Maki, a bowl of Ramen noodles, unlimited tea, miso soup, pickles and a selection of maybe a cold beer Ashi. The atmosphere is cozy with a choice of table or seat cushion and the staff is super friendly and speaks English and Japanese.
A CHOCOLATE HIT
So we've all been there, after a nice meal we still feel a bit dissatisfied with the taste buds are sugar desire affected. Kathmandu can offer some great international cuisine but not widely known for desserts. Oh, let me let you in on a little secret question – what absolutely amazing chocolate brownie delicious sizzling in Road House …. Did I mention it's amazing. Add a spoonful of homemade vanilla ice cream and will surely be in heaven is addicted to chocolate!
HOME COMFORTS
Have you ever seen the movie Ratatouille, the scene in which the critic cries that food gives a memory your mothers kitchen! We get that feeling home sick sometimes, and food can give us real comfort when needed. Head to Northfield Cafe, beef stroganoff is served with mashed potatoes is a dish that almost brings me to my knees crying for my mother …… until the tie of cream and a touch of rosemary. It is the perfect dish to help me in Homesick Blues. home comfort of your menu Other delights include Sheppard pie and everyone's favorite bangers and mash!
And that's all, although the local food in Nepal is large, we all have our comfort from time to time. Hope this helps fill that hole in the stomach with something other than Bharta Tarkuri Dhal. Happy eating …
