I have an oil painting signed something like an Amt or / and the last letter is r, n, x not sure. Sound familiar?

The painting is abstract, people (couples) very well dressed, heading or away from a big museum building. The colors are mostly shades of green with some red and yellow. It is beautiful and always I have loved. It was given to me in 98 or 99 by a stranger who said he found her dead grandmother in the storage shed.
