The many faces of solar energy

Living in Nevada, the sun is an almost constant companion. This gives Nevadans a unique opportunity to use solar radiation powers for good. In April, a tour of southern Nevada homes shed some light on the subject of solar powered homes. Organized by the American Solar Energy Society, this Nevada branch of the National Solar Tour explored homes that used both passive and active solar energy, thermal hot water systems, environment and other characteristics. However, unless you're an expert in green technologies, or took the tour, you may not know the difference between passive solar and assets, or how hot springs is different than average. Let me help you understand!

Active solar technology is that more people can be familiar. It's about having a solar panel that collects energy from the sun and converts it into electricity. They have a battery that stores energy, so that electricity can still be used at night, and to some extent, on cloudy days. Well designed passive solar homes can reduce their electricity needs. And while active solar energy technology is bright, still has many resources to create. As for the thermal water heating, which is also a very simple concept. Homemade water heaters can be as simple as a water tank outside painted black, but that is a bit raw for everyone.
