Low glycemic breakfast helps burn more fat
I suppose everyone who reads this blog is to do something to lose weight, or diets, exercise, or better yet, do a combo of both. But research on what foods to eat when and in connection with the exercise even it is not clear to most, for example, what is the best food to eat before training?
Some research suggests that exercise and diet interact to affect health, such as exercise after short-term fasting (as before breakfast) can increase the amount of fat burned or eat a meal that causes a response from low blood glucose (such as food fiber) before exercise to increase the use of body fat instead of glucose. But now it seems we have one more confirmation that low blood sugar is definitely the way to eat before going to the gym.
A group of researchers from the University of Nottingham conducted a controlled trial of human intervention in sedentary sportsmen. As expected, they found that the blood glucose concentrations were higher after the high glycemic index or HGI foods the glycemic index meals low or LGI, and had returned to baseline levels by the time of exercise was completed, after which they were not influenced by eating breakfast. Plasma free fatty acids (FFA) a marker of fat oxidation or fat burning, was reduced after consumption of both types of breakfast, but began to rise at 2 hours after breakfast in the LGI and not the meaning of HGI-treatment, the body was using fat more when the subject ate a breakfast LGI.
Circulating free fatty acid concentrations were not different between treatments after lunch. In general, fat oxidation was higher in the LGI treatment than in the HGI treatment during the post-breakfast and exercise periods. After lunch, fullness scores were higher in the LGI trial than in the HGI trial. In short, the authors concluded that eating a low glycemic index breakfast increases fat burning for energy during exercise and during recovery enhanced satiety in sedentary women. So the message to remember is that those of us trying to get rid of fat you should choose a LGI meal before exercising that may be better if we workout after breakfast!
