Dylan Thomas and other notables Swansea

Swansea is one of the most beautiful places in Wales but all over the UK. The city boasts of sandy beaches soft and golden and magnificent sunsets, and numerous parks and other places of great consideration.

However, beyond its natural beauty considerable, Swansea is also known as the birthplace of many personalities who have made significant contributions to the world as we know it today. Among the prominent sons of Swansea and daughters, one stands and shoulders above all else – the great poet Dylan Thomas.

Thomas, who was born on October 27, 1914 and died on November 9, 1953, is widely regarded as one of the most influential poets of the century 20. His poems were powerful and full of deep meaning that touched lives of countless people. On the other hand, his talent is not limited to writing poems, but also wrote for film and radio, and short stories. Thomas from time to time performs the scripts he wrote for radio, and his writing was marked by the quality of his voice – booming, passionate, sometimes bordering on display, marked by a subtle melody of Wales.

Born in Swansea, Thomas lived in a house in Cwmdonkin, where he created many of his poems and short stories. He moved to London on December 18, 1934, at age 20. Among his most famous and powerful "Under Milk Wood" and the poem of 1951 "Do not go gentle into that good night", which was about his death father. His fame was not only a product of his poetry as he was known also for his skills as a speaker. Their emissions of the British Broadcasting Company became famous and applauded. His captivating voice brought him fame beyond the shores of Great Britain and all the way to America.

One of the great poet most admired works is 18 poems, the volume of poetry was first published in December 1934. 18 poems earned him the stature of a heavyweight on the literary scene. Another famous work is the death and entries published in 1946.

Today, tourists visiting Swansea are greeted by a statue of Thomas located in the Maritime Quarter. The area also has the Dylan Thomas Centre, a literary center used for conferences and exhibitions.

Cwmdonkin Park is another landmark that locals remember the greatness of Thomas. The Park was one of the favorite places of the poet as a child. This is a small rock that leads to the closing lines of one of his poems:

"Oh, I was young and easy in the mercy of his means / Time held me green and dying / Though I sang in my chains like the sea. "

Another must for tourists is the script that Thomas used to shed many of his literary masterpieces. Located in Laugharne, writing covered was built during the decade of 1920 rock platform-ments.

During his life colors, Thomas also earned a reputation as a heavy drinker. Not surprisingly, then, that many Pubs and clubs in town have some association with the poet.

Among the most famous consumer places all of Swansea is the pub called Bar none signal, one of the oldest pubs in the city and a favorite haunt of Thomas. There, he gave friends and fans alike with stories and impromptu poetry readings. Finally, a product of another celebrity is Swansea Jack, the black dog, which is famous for saving 27 people from drowning Swansea docks. To commemorate the heroism of Jack, a monument was created by him near St. Helen's Stadium.
