Transhumanism and the Great Rebellion

This generation is witnessing the emergence of a radical new social movement known as transhumanism. Expressing an unshakable faith in the continued rapid advance of human technology, transhumanists look to the future with what can only be described as religious fervor. Many of the followers of this movement point to the singularity (an exponential increase in technological advances so fast that the unaided human mind is incapable of understanding their consequences) as the climax of human civilization. Believing that this event will mark the beginning of a new era for the human race in which limited mortals beyond of their biological bodies and set out to conquer the universe, anticipation transhumanist singularity is comparable to the Christian advance to the second coming of Jesus Christ.

Ironically, the Bible says that at the time just before the second coming of Jesus Christ, the world is characterized by unparalleled human arrogance. Led by Antichrist, the human race not only a spiritual rebellion against God, but a real physical confrontation between them and the King of kings, Jesus Christ.

The apostle Paul foresaw this conflict, almost 2,000 years ago:

"For that day will not come until there is a great rebellion against God and man of lawlessness is revealed – the bringer of destruction. He will exalt and defy every god there is and tear down every object of adoration and worship. He will be positioned in the temple of God, claiming that he is God. "2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 (NLT)

The Big Lie

The reason for this great rebellion is based lies. The Bible predicts that cheating is rampant in recent times. Just as God hardened Pharaoh's heart to put faith in his own power, he will do the same to the inhabitants of the land to be intoxicated with his own power:

"So God will send great deception upon them, and they believe that all these lies. "2 Thessalonians 2:11 (NLT)

Paul makes it clear that these people will be deceived into believing "lies." But what are exactly the "lies" referred to? A quick review of the first book of the Bible reveals a quote from the author of lies. In fact, it is the very first lie mentioned in the Bible:

"'You will not die!" the serpent hissed. "God knows that your eyes are opened when you eat it. You will become in the same God, knowing everything, both good and bad. '"Genesis 3:4-5 (NLT)

These lies the Garden of Eden is the same kind to which Paul refers. The same lies which brought sin into the world will be the same lies that final spark of rebellion against God Almighty. Humanity circle. In recent days, the same construction projects planned by the Tower of Babel architects will lead humanity to a level of technological sophistication so advanced that "nothing will be impossible for them." The human race come to believe the big lie of the serpent.

In their arrogance, the man believed to be:

1) Immortal
2) All-Knowing

and

3) Just as God

Humanity imitate the arrogance of Lucifer by joining earthquake freely in their rebellious attempt to usurp the throne of God. Because without Jesus Christ, fallen humanity's ambition is the same as Lucifer. Centuries ago, Isaiah described this being dropped and their sinister motives:

"How art thou fallen from heaven, O shining star, son of the morning! You have been thrown to the ground, which destroyed the nations of the world. For you said to yourself, 'I will ascend to heaven and set my throne above the stars of God. I will preside on the mountain of the gods very away in the north. I'm going up to heaven and be like the Most High. "Isaiah 14:12-14 (NIV)

In recent days, this passage will not only be an accurate description of Satan, but of all mankind.

The transhumanist movement

The latest incarnation of man's rebellion against God is the transhumanist movement. Many members of the movement believe the singularity will lead to the emergence of "post-biological humans" who are able to throw their biological bodies and "upgrade their hardware Other." They believe that by downloading themselves into a network, which will effectively become "immortal ". The true believers have modified their diets, exercise routines, and all forms of life in an effort to increase the probability of living to witness human investment the aging process and eventual human immortality. "

Ray Kurzweil – inventor, writer and transhumanist – is considered one of the best in the world accurately predict technological trends of short and medium term. In chapter 7 of his bestselling book "The Singularity Is Near: When Humans Transcend Biology ", Describes his vision of the final result of our technological advance:

"Matter and energy in our neighborhood will be infused with intelligence, knowledge, creativity, beauty and emotional intelligence (the ability to love, for example) of our human-machine civilization. Our civilization is extended outward, turning all the dumb matter and energy that we are in sublime intelligent – transcendent – matter and energy. So in a sense, we can say that the Singularity will ultimately infuse the universe with spirit. "

According to Kurzweil, the universe is infused with "spirit" as a result of natural progression of our human-machine civilization. This infers that the universe is no longer imbued with the "spirit" and that if God exists their designs are inferior to those created by the predicted human-machine civilization.

In their arrogance and desperation, Satan will be to advance in the dark powers of the spiritual world, with the help of a fallen humanity with powers beyond our current limitations, in a last effort to defeat God. Technological advances in the near future to provide humanity with unprecedented power, and the ambitious goals of the transhumanist movement and are in direct conflict with God himself.

The following verse provides further support for believing transhumanism will play a key role in this final rebellion. In the New Testament When Jesus describes the signs of his coming to the disciples, He makes an interesting statement in light of our times:

"And except those days should be shortened, no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened. "Matthew 24:22 (KJV)

Throughout the centuries, this verse has been interpreted as the Second Coming of Christ will arrive just in time to save humanity from itself, wars that threaten human sense to cause the extinction of the human race. However, it could mean that "no flesh be saved" by an ambitious human race will become naked in a race of "post-biological humans" intent to reshape the universe according to an alternative agenda.

Given the history of the rebellion humans from God, it would be unwise to rule this possibility.

The Great Rebellion

As Paul prophesied, the last human ambition eventually lead to a great rebellion against God. This rebellion will peak at Armageddon, an actual geographical location in modern Israel. The meeting of the world's armies at Armageddon will not be (as some believe) a war of humans against humans, but rather a physical confrontation between literal rebellious mankind and the King of kings, Jesus Christ. In addition to Psalm 2, this battle is referred to several times in Scripture, and is clearly referenced twice in the book of Revelation

"These miraculous demons caused all world leaders to gather for the battle against the Lord on that great Judgement Day of God Almighty. "Revelation 16:14 (NIV)

"Then I saw the beast gathering the kings of the earth and their armies to fight against which is seated on the horse and his army. "Revelation 19:19 (NIV)

The "sitting on a horse" is identified as Jesus Christ. Literally interpreted, both these passages indicate that the world will gather for battle against Jesus Christ. The Bible is clear about this, but for countless generations, these passages have been interpreted as a purely spiritual battle and not a literal physical conflict. It is not difficult to imagine why. The idea of humanity to God in the participation physical battle seems so preposterous that these passages have given rise to numerous symbolic interpretations over the years. However, Scripture is clear. Remember what God said about the human race that will ultimately fulfill its Tower of Babel of the prophecy – "nothing is impossible for them!"

In fact, the Book of Daniel reveals that the Antichrist will be responsible for attacking "the heavenly armies, throwing some of the heavenly beings and stars to the ground and trampling them "

"From one of the prominent horns came a small horn whose power was great. It extended to the south and east and to the Holy Land of Israel. His power reached to the sky, where it attacked the heavenly armies, throwing some of the heavenly beings and stars to the ground and trampling them. He even challenged the Commander of the armies of heaven, canceling the daily sacrifices offered to him and the destruction of their Temple. "Daniel 8:9-11 (NIV)

The power of the Antichrist and the people of his time will far exceed what our generation can imagine today. As proof, Daniel describes a time when Antichrist will focus on Jesus Christ himself in the battle:

"Even take the Prince of princes in battle, but will break, but not by human hand. "Daniel 8:25 (NLT)

The human race, led by the Antichrist, will the Lord himself in battle. Like the Tower of Babel generation the arrogance of this final generation will be extended until the end in heaven, where the human race trying to usurp the glory and authority of God himself. But like the Tower of Babel generation, their efforts end in failure.

Conclusion

The transhumanist program serves as a reminder of what the human race is without the blood of Jesus Christ – an enemy of God. A movement that sees its purpose of bringing enlightenment to the universe sets itself in direct opposition to the purpose of God. This is the very definition of the rebellion, and is the inevitable result of the sinful nature of fallen humanity.

However, despite our sinful nature, God gave us the gift of salvation through His Son Jesus Christ. All we have to do is accept this gift. Those who accept it will experience peace and eternal life, but who will not become slaves of sin, and ambition – as Satan – will one day lead to an outright physical confrontation with God himself. It is a battle that God will win.
