Copper nails are worth the extra money?
I'm re-roofing of my old barn in Brittany France. Has the French style slate small, there are 18,000 consequantly slates in each field. I will be starting to replace the boards soon and I'm looking at the price of nails. From what I have far found copper nails for a launch will cost around £ 500 GB but these are from the U.S.. I can be able to find some cheaper. My wife, horrified by cost, wants me to use much cheaper galvanized French clouts. Can anyone tell me how long it may last? My wife seems to think that if the roof remains on until after I'm dead shouldn't worry. My feeling is that it can not last that long. I have 50 now. Of course I want to do the best job possible. Does anyone may shed some light or help me convince my wife? Even better give me the contact details of supplier discount copper nails. Thanks in advance.
Copper nails should be used on copper roofing. In another type, they are unnecessary. Make sure you are considering galvanized nails are hot dip, and you no problems. Hope this helps.
