ELECTRICAL – bringing power to a shed outside?
Need a good electrician to help here. I am putting a pre-fabricated storage shed near my house. The only near the electrical service are two "service" boxes next to the two air conditioning compressor units condensation (they look like circuit breakers, but they are – not just on / off switches – I think – the main 25 amp breakers are in the main panel). "I can tap one of those boxes to provide 110V to the storage shed and ONE, marks the code and DOS, safe from electric shock? I would like to install other small breaker box in the shed (turn off the tap of the box with 220 amp breaker a10 and a box of 110 or two for the shed). The a / c box only has 3 wires 110V and two for each side and then a ground (earth ground – no neutral). In most housing 110v has a side 110, a neutral and a bare soil (ground) What removing hazards are only one side of circuit 220 with a 110 V and only reason?? (Total 2 wires, not 3 as in a standard 110v boxes)?
You would have to run what is called underground cable (wire) or do so in the conduit from the main house panel to an electrical box in the shed. Also depends on what you want to have in the shed. If only one light and one outlet can run underground cable from the electrical box for the ship and put in a switch, the light and takes one. Should be a 20 amp circuit breaker and a GFCI. If you want a small panel with lights and extra outlets probably multlable should have an electrician do it. Never leave other circuits to devices Othe power or even a shed.
