"I can register expired plates and use them in my car?

I just found an old license plates lying in a shed in my backyard. Plates are Ontario from 1979 to 1980. This was before the Ontario used even stickers on the plates. Obviously, the plates are expired. The previous owner must have just tossed them in the shed and forgot about them. By happy coincidence, I just bought a car. "I can put one of these plates on my car, take it to the MTO and register? Will I get a sticker 2008-9 to put on the plate? If not, why not? If I'm going to register the plate with my real name, address, etc, then what is the problem? I think it would be nice to have one of these old plates on my car. So, is there any way I can work around the rules and legally obtain these plates back into the system? Hey, it's good for the environment. They will not have to present a brand new board.

No you can not. BTW, Ontario passed the sticker system in 1973.
