Finding the right dog for you
Choose a dog.
Dogs are cute and adorable make great companions. Before buying a dog, make sure choosing the one that is right for you, your lifestyle and your living space. Evaluate your lifestyle and family circumstances. Do you have children? Are you active? What are your hobbies and family activities? Does anyone in your family have allergies?
Make a list of qualities you want or need in a dog. Need a lap dog, guard dog, or a small toy or you and your home can accommodate a large dog? Do you want a dog with long hair throw it away and needs special preparation?
No dog is totally non-allergic, but some cause allergies less than others. Normally breeds not yield as much or requires less frequent bathing allergic. Also, small breeds of dog, because they produce less saliva. Poodles and poodle mixes are less Allergy.
Once you have completed your list, go to the library or the AKC website and check out information on all the different breeds of dogs until you find one that suits your family.
Buy your dog from a responsible breeder, ethics, which produces high quality, healthy dogs with stable temperament. The AKC has recognized breeder reference contacts for each race.
Breeds of dogs.
There are many breeds of dogs and especially in these AKC recognized it groups;
The first is called the Sporting Group. These dogs are active, alert, friendly and make well-rounded companions. They require regular exercise invigorating. They include the Cocker Spaniel, Irish Setter and the Vizsla.
The second group are Hounds. These dogs are mostly used for hunting because of their scent and strength powers. Be aware that instead of barking dogs produce some deep baying sound. Hounds include the Basset Hound, Beagle, and Blood Hound.
Third are working dogs. Most have been bred to guard, pull sleds or rescue. They are quick to learn, smart, strong and capable partners do. His size and strength can make them unsuitable for children. These dogs must be properly trained. These include the Boxer, Great Dane and Rottweiler.
In fourth place Terriers. They are feisty, strong and vary in size from very small to midsize businesses. Most were bred to hunt. They may have wiry coats require special preparation. It also requires owners with determination to match your vivacious spirit. This group includes breeds such as the Cairn Terrier and Miniature Schnauzer.
Fifth is the Toy Group. They are tiny in size but very expressive. They are very popular for people with small spaces. It is easier to control and care to smaller dogs, but may have long coats that require special care. These include the Chihuahua, Pomeranian and Pug.
The sixth is the Sporting Group no. This is a diverse group of hardy dogs with different personalities, sizes, coats and appearances. This includes breeds such as Dalmatian, Bull Dog and Chow.
Seventh is the grazing group. This is the newest class and is composed of the dogs that belonged to the Working Group. They share the ability to control the movement of other animals. They are intelligent, make excellent companions and respond well to training. This includes breeds such as Collies, German Shepherds and Old English sheep dog.
