Does anyone know of New York Well?

I'm writing a book on Sci-Fi at the moment and that starts with Emery and his family live deep in the jungle Amazon and then Emery and his mother gets kidnapped by a scientist named Anderson. I want to take them to his lab somewhere in New York, perhaps an abandoned barn that became a lab, but I have to know is: Where do you think would be a good place for this, New York, feel? Does suburbs, and in Australia we live in Geelong, but then that our neighborhood is the St Albans Park, if that is not what it explains very well, but I do not know what else manner of speaking. So what would be a good neighborhood for this? And after she discovers a hidden power, explodes and then I want to be somewhere that could meet a photographer, you know, somewhere open. Please I need your help. And if you could tell me some of the important things in the street, me I love you. Thanks

This story sounds very derivative. As a young writer has to write about things you know. You will never be able to get the feel of New York for a few questions specific to your plot. Does not sound like you have enough life experience to make this sound realistic enough to keep the reader's attention. The plot is the skeleton of a novel, you must have much more to flesh out. That's why you have to write what you know. You live in Australia? What you need to do is find something around you and write about it. A new look at something that seems common to you. Their experience and knowledge will come through, even when not specifically trying to run it. If you must use this fantastic story, put it in places that you know what the nuggets of truth will come through, which is what makes people read, like and enjoy a book is obviously not an artificial construct without the truth behind them. Good Luck Despite all the fantasy of Harry Potter works because the author wrote about things he knows. She knows that the English school system because she went to English schools. She plays his version of dungeons and dragons much in his youth. His characters are based on people who do not know who ever invented. Thes are the things that reach people and make a good book
