How long do cats keep their whiskers?

we have 5 cats and sometimes shed their whiskers on the carpet. I know why cats have whiskers but how long it takes hair to grow throughout its length and then fall?

Cat's whiskers do not grow out until fall. Simply Whiskers break on occasion. The ends of the whiskers are constantly being worn by the objects that the cat comes in contact with and there is no predetermined length to grow. A mustache regrow broken in about 30 days.
