Does anyone know when lines were first placed on the Ford Mustang GT?

Does anyone know when lines were first placed on the Ford Mustang GT and what are the classic design of the lines? View My husband and I are ina dispute. We have a Mustang GT 2006. He wants to leave the 2 lines wide in the car, because it says that this is the classic design for a Mustang GT. I instead prefer no lines, but if he is going to put the lines in the mustang prefer hey be the one that is 1 line width in the middle and 2 thin lines on either side of the line width. He (my husband) said that this is not part of the classic design. Can someone please shed some light on this issue?
